Vendor Application

Rules and Regulations

All handmade makers:

  1.  85% items sold at your booth must be handmade Items must be 85% handmade or, if repurposed, they must be modified by approximately 85%.

  2. A 50% administration fee will be charged for cancellations by vendors 30 days prior to the market

  3. Cancellations made after 30 days before the market are non-refundable.

  4. All cancellations must be received by Lethbridge Handmade Market in writing (e-mail ONLY to lethbridgehandmademarket@gmail.com) or they will not be recognized.

  5.  Lethbridge Handmade Market reserves the right to refuse space in the show to any vendor.

  6.  Vendor parking is available in designated “Vendor Parking Only” area on the west side of the building.

  7.  No vendor will have exclusive rights to products. LHM is an open marketplace.

  8.  Other vendors will be allowed to sell a similar product however market management will do its best to ensure there is not an abundance of similar items.

  9.  Vendors are required to keep their exhibit space and surrounding aisle ways, free and clear of obstructions. Vendors shall not operate equipment so as to interfere with adjoining space and will conduct business in a quiet and orderly manner.

  10. No tape will be allowed to be applied to floors or walls at the Exhibition Park.

  11. No nails, screws, thumbtacks, etc. will be allowed on the walls at the Exhibition Park.

  12. No paint used for any purpose inside the buildings or on the grounds due to over-spray concerns.

  13. No threatening or aggressive behaviour to Exhibition Park or Lethbridge Handmade Market staff/volunteers, security, members of the public, of other Vendors will be tolerated.

  14. Market Management may at any time in its discretion, remove the vendor, and/or its employees/workers from Exhibition Park for any violation of this contract.

  15. Idle, indiscreet talk and gossiping with other exhibitors will no longer be tolerated. Appeals or complaints regarding the Lethbridge Handmade Market must be received in writing to the Market Manager within fourteen (14) days of the complaint, decision, or incident.    

  16.  Sub-letting and sharing of exhibit space or transfer of application to persons or companies not indicated as a vendor is not permitted. An application must be completed for every vendor.

  17. Booth sharing with another artist is not permitted

  18.  All sales must take place within your allotted booth. You are not permitted to leave your booth and solicit business from the aisles or adjacent booths.

  19.  Helium balloons are strictly not permitted at the Exhibition Park.

  20.  The Exhibition staff monitors all power outlets used at the event, and charges LHM for each outlet used. If power was used at your booth that was not paid for you will be billed and charged for $50.00.

  21.  Vendors agree to being photographed at Lethbridge Handmade Market and to allowing market photos to be used for promotional purposes.

  22.  All vendors are required to dismantle and clear their belongings immediately following the close of the event. Vendors are required to remain set-up in their market booths until the close of the event.

  23.  Vendors are responsible for their own signage, permits, product labels, collection of sales tax and credit/debit services.

  24. Exhibitors must visually display a business name and phone number at their booth (some form of professional looking signage required.) Business cards will not be enough {e.g.: a banner form, no written signs will be permitted).Sign approval is up to the discretion of the Market Manager.   

  25.  In the unlikely circumstance that the event is cancelled, LHM will provide a 75% refund (25% administration fee)

  26.  If your application is accepted by the LHM, it is mandatory that each artisan donates a minimum of at least $10 shopping credit to the Facebook shopping spree or door prizes (depending on market)

  27. Exhibitors are responsible for keeping their booth clean and tidy during and after the market; brooms and dustpans can be supplied upon request. Minimal cardboard can be disposed in our cardboard recycle bin. If you have a lot of cardboard and garbage, please take with you upon leaving the market.    

  28. The Market Manager has full control of operations and conduct in the market.

  29. All exhibitors are to be loaded in the market by 8:30 am. This time must be strictly adhered to. If you are not in before 8:30 am you will not be permitted to set up your product and you will not be refunded. The hours between 8:00 am and 9:00 am are to be used for booth set up only.  

  30. Vendor setup Saturday morning is restricted to  8:00 a.m. - 8:45 am ONLY 

  31. All vendors are required to dismantle and clear their belongings immediately following the close of the event. Vendors are required to remain set-up in their market booths until the close of the event.

  32.  If your application is accepted by the LHM, it is mandatory that each artisan has an active and valid Facebook Page.


If you are a food Exhibitor:

  •  If you are a food exhibitor, you MUST include a copy of your food safety certificate with this contract. 

  • Exhibitors handling food must adhere to the Alberta Health Services Farmers’ Market regulations such as:

  • Certification of Government inspected meats.

  • Certification of organic products.

  • All producers must display grade, date packaged and best before date on their product

  • Previously frozen products must be labelled with the original date of freezing.

  • Weighed items must be weighed on a scale inspected and approved by federal authorities.

  • The inspection sticker “legal for trade” must be displayed on the scale.

  • Exhibitors must include a list of ingredients and allergens on all food products being sold.

  • Jars and containers used must meet Alberta Health Standards for Farmers’ Markets.

  • Food Handling Permits - Every exhibitor who handles food will need to be certified prior to being accepted into the market.

  • A market stall is considered its own place of business, comparable to retail outlets in a shopping centre.

  • Any business operating during the COVID-19 pandemic is legally obligated to put measures in place that prevent the spread of infection amongst staff, volunteers and customers. 

  • Follow all mandatory measures set out in the Chief Medical Officer of Health’s orders. Consider additional steps, including:                      

    • Performing frequent hand hygiene,

    • Creating barriers (e.g. glass or plastic partitions) between patrons and workers,

    • Eliminating food sampling,

    • Preventing customers from gathering,

    • Asking customers to refrain from handling products and to point out the items they
      want bagged by staff,                           

    • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks (see the PPE section in Workplace Guidance for Business Owners) as required.

    • Follow cleaning and disinfecting practices described in the workplace guidelines, including regular sanitation of any stall surfaces and equipment touched by workers and patrons. 

    • Take precautions at the point of sale to reduce transmission.

    • Physically distance workers from patrons or install physical barriers.  

    • Sanitize electronic keypads after each use.

    • Minimize the handling of money.

    • Ensure gloves are available for workers handling cash. 

    • Update business return policies to prevent the risk of transmission of COVID-19. This may include eliminating returns of  purchased goods (i.e. final sale only) or storing and cleaning items before they are put out for resale.

    • we have put together a list of rules and regulations for vendors.​​

      • As per Alberta Law , a market stall is considered a place of business, being a vendor, you are obligated to take measures to prevent the possible spread of infections

    • Mandatory steps are set out in the Chief Medical Officer of Health's orders.

    • We highly recommend these extra precautions​:

    • Frequent hand sanitization​

    • Barriers between patrons and vendor

    • Prevent the gathering of customers in your stall

    • Refrain from allowing customers to touch any items until after item is bagged post- purchase

    • Providing your own gloves for handling cash

    • Have disinfectant wipes available at your booth

    • Sanitize any surfaces and equipment (Ex. SQUARE payment terminal) touched by workers and customers

      The following are mandatory LHM measures:

      • Each vendor booth is required to provide hand sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol and labelled with ingredients) at their booth

      • Sanitize your hands frequently and before and after handling product to customer

      • Enforce that customers sanitize hands before touching anything

      • ALL vendors must wear masks ( can be handmade or even a bandana)

      • No food sampling

      • Try to have only ONE vendor at your booth (if necessary, absolutely no more than TWO)

      • No draws or giveaways are allowed at your booth

    • Extra information:

    • LHM will have gloves available at the front desk for your convenience

    • No booth add-ons are available during these markets ( ex. additional chairs and tables)

    • Only one booth choice (10 x 10 with special discounted COVID-19 price)  ​
      due to map restrictions from the Alberta government

    • Absolutely no refunds for any cancelations at any time. *COVID- 19 ONLY*
